探索台中望高寮-走別人不敢走的路
Wanggaoliao, situated on the Da Du Mountain in Taichung, is a private off-road venue that serves as a landmark for many automobile brands and off-road events in the automotive community. Not only does it offer a panoramic view of the Taichung metropolitan area, but the diverse terrain has also left a lasting impression on every off-road enthusiast. For off-road photography, it stands out as a rare and exceptional natural location.
At the 18th annual meeting of the Taiwan Land Rover Club (TLRC), the newly elected 19th president took initiative to enhance members’ understanding of off-roading. To achieve this, coaches from a ” #六級廠專業性能駕駛教練團隊 ” were invited to organize a meticulously planned off-road experience.
The first challenge at this venue is the artillery shell pit, providing not only significant tire drop-offs but also challenges for fixed-axis vehicles to navigate effortlessly. Next is the mud and water pit, where the red soil’s sticky and slippery nature poses difficulties for many vehicles. Following that are challenges involving overcoming psychological obstacles on inclined angles and navigating large rocky pits uphill. Throughout the forest crossing, participants simultaneously listened to coach guidance on how to switch gears to address different driving techniques.
The final challenge involves steep descents and ascents. All Land Rover models are equipped with a hill descent control system, a safety feature precisely controlled by the computer. However, standing atop a high platform, observing the steepness of the slope, presents a considerable psychological barrier for drivers. Through the coach’s radio guidance, each participating enthusiast gained valuable experience and a deeper understanding of vehicle driving techniques.
