Dowang Creek is one of the upstream tributaries of the Lanyang River, originating from Mount Jialuo. In the past, it served as one of the logging sites during the Japanese colonial period, where timber was transported downstream through waterways and then moved to a lumberyard. Due to significant losses using this method, it was later replaced by the use of railroads and cable cars for timber transportation.

Dowang Creek Hot Springs, like Jiuzhize Hot Spring, features weakly alkaline calcium carbonate hot springs with clear, odorless water that leaves the skin smooth and is renowned as a “beauty bath.” However, the river terrain of Dowang Creek Hot Springs undergoes changes with the annual rainy season, creating a diverse landscape. Looking back at every weekend in 2019, Dowang Creek Hot Springs attracted nearly a hundred off-road vehicles for enthusiasts to explore.
In the past 1-2 years, abundant rainfall brought by summer typhoons has caused the river to flood, submerging the water source beneath several meters of sand and gravel. This picturesque scene has now become a cherished memory.
